Using MediSave for Dental Treatment
MediSave can be used for dental surgery — wisdom-tooth removal, implant placement and other procedures done surgically — but not for routine dentistry such as fillings, scaling, crowns or braces. At Millenia Walk we set out which parts of your treatment are claimable in your written quotation.
What is claimable, and what is not
| Claimable — surgical | Not claimable — non-surgical |
|---|---|
| Surgical removal of a wisdom tooth, including impacted teeth | Scaling and polishing |
| Dental implant placement (the surgical portion) | Fillings, including composite and ceramic |
| Surgical removal of a buried or fractured root | Simple, non-surgical extractions |
| Apicoectomy — surgery at the root tip | Crowns, bridges and dentures |
| Removal of a cyst or a lesion biopsy | Root canal treatment |
| Gum surgery and bone grafting or sinus lift | Braces and clear aligners |
| Corrective jaw surgery | Whitening and other cosmetic treatment |
Each claimable procedure has its own Ministry of Health withdrawal limit, so the amount differs by procedure and by case. We state the figure for yours in writing rather than quote a general one here.
What this means at Calm Dental
Three of our treatments are commonly claimable: wisdom-tooth surgery, implant placement, and the surgical portion of All-on-X full-arch treatment. Surgical removal of an ordinary tooth is claimable too where a surgical approach is genuinely needed.
Where a course of treatment mixes the two — an implant, for instance, where the placement is claimable and the crown on top is not — the quotation separates them, so you can see what comes out of MediSave and what does not before you agree to anything.
How the claim is made
Bring your NRIC. Tell us at booking if you intend to claim.
You sign a medical claim authorisation form at the clinic.
We submit the claim to the CPF Board. The claimable amount is deducted from your bill — you do not pay it and wait for reimbursement.
You pay the balance. If the procedure turns out not to be claimable, we tell you before treatment, not after.
MediSave may also be used for immediate family — spouse, children, parents, grandparents and siblings — with their consent. Tell us whose account is being used and we will prepare the authorisation.
If MediSave does not cover your treatment
Two other schemes may. CHAS, along with Pioneer and Merdeka Generation cards, subsidises selected routine treatments for cardholders. And Flexi-MediSave is being extended from mid-2026 to root canal treatment and permanent crowns for patients aged 60 and above — the first time MediSave money reaches non-surgical dentistry. That has its own page: Flexi-MediSave for dental treatment.
Our fees are published in full, inclusive of GST, so you can see the whole figure before any subsidy is applied.
Questions
Can I use MediSave for dental treatment in Singapore?
Only for dental surgery, not for routine dentistry. Surgical removal of a wisdom tooth, implant placement, surgical removal of a buried root, apicoectomy, cyst removal and gum surgery are claimable, subject to Ministry of Health withdrawal limits. Fillings, scaling and polishing, simple extractions, crowns, bridges, dentures, braces and whitening are not.
Why does MediSave not cover fillings or scaling?
MediSave is designed for hospitalisation and for selected costly outpatient treatments, so its dental use is limited to surgical procedures. The Ministry of Health has stated that non-surgical dental treatment falls outside it. Separate schemes help with routine dental costs: CHAS for cardholders, and from mid-2026 Flexi-MediSave for root canal treatment and permanent crowns for patients aged 60 and above.
How much MediSave can I use for wisdom tooth surgery?
The amount depends on the specific surgical procedure code, and each has its own Ministry of Health withdrawal limit. Rather than quote a figure that may not apply to your case, we state the claimable amount for your particular procedure in the written quotation you receive after examination.
Can I use a family member’s MediSave for my dental surgery?
Yes. MediSave may be used for your spouse, children, parents, grandparents and siblings, with their consent. Tell us at booking whose account is being used and we will prepare the authorisation.
Do I claim MediSave myself, or does the clinic?
The clinic does it. You sign a medical claim authorisation form, we submit the claim to the CPF Board, and the claimable portion is deducted from your bill rather than paid and reimbursed. Bring your NRIC.
Scheme rules are set by the Ministry of Health and the CPF Board and do change. This page reflects published guidance as at 27 August 2026. For your own entitlement, the CPF Board is the authority — and we will confirm what applies to your treatment in writing before it starts.
